The Department of forest and Environment has introduced two battery powered tourist vehicles in the Biological Park, Chidiyatapu, the inauguration function for which was held in the Park premises here this afternoon. The Lt. governor, Lt. gen. A K Singh (Retd.) pressed into service the two vehicles as the chief guest of the function. The Chief Secretary, Shri Anand Prakash, PCCF cum principal Secretary (E&F), Shri Omkar Singh and senior officers of the Administration also graced the occasion.Pressing the vehicles into services, the Lt. Governor took a drive himself in one of the vehicles and went around the park to see the effectiveness of these vehicles. During the course of the drive, four birds, two each of White Bellied Sea Eagles and Andaman Dark Serpents Eagles were freed into their respective enclosures set up within the Park. The Lt. Governor also planted a sapling to mark the occasion.
Later, while speaking to the Deputy Director, Biological Park Chidiyatapu, Shri Yesu Ratnam informed that the vehicles have been introduced in the Park to facilitate tourists visiting there. The battery powered vehicles, having six seats each are free from air as well as noise pollution
