Reaching Andaman Islands from Mumbai By Ship
You can reach Andaman from Chennai, Kolkata and Vizag through Ships operated by Government of India. Mumbai is not directly connected to Port Blair by sea. So, to travel from Mumbai to Port Blair, you first have to reach one of these places. And, then you can board a regular passenger ship which takes around three to four days to reach Andaman.
Regular passenger ships are available to Port Blair and back. It takes a time of approx three to four days to reach there from each of these places. The distance from Chennai to Port Blair is around 1362 km, from Kolkata to Port Blair is 1297 km and from Vizag to Port Blair is 1216 kms.

Train From Mumbai to Port Blair
To Reach Andaman Capital Port Blair From Mumbai, you need to take a train from Mumbai to Chennai and then take a ship or flight to Port Blair. Andaman is an island with No road connectivity from Mainland India. Thus traveling via road is not possible.

What is the cheapest way to reach Andaman from Mumbai?
The cheapest way we think is to take a train from Mumbai to Chennai and then take a bunk class Ship tickets from Chennai to Port Blair. But we caution for this option because the overall travel time will increase and you will incur personal expenses during this period.

Though traveling to Andaman from sea seems very exciting, but it has some constraints attached to it. And the foremost among them is an unexpected change in weather – As ship journey depends on the weather conditions, so your travel can be delayed if it is not favorable.
