Alfred Caves
The Alfred Caves is a cluster of 41 amazing caves. It is located near Ramnagar Beach at a distance of about 35 kilometers from the main town of Diglipur. It takes a whole day to complete the visit to the caves and return to our accommodation. To complete this trip you need to start early in the morning and return by evening.
While traveling from Port Blair to Diglipur if you take a stop and visit the Limestone Caves in Baratang (go to our Baratang page for more details), then taking reference to that cave you can say The Alfred Caves is a parent version of the Limestone Caves in Baratang.
While you start entering the caves, you are supposed to hire a guide or a forest personnel’s guidance to enter the caves that’ll guide you inside and accompany you until you are back outside.
These caves have a very narrow opening which later opens up to numerous small and wide caves. These are home to many Swiftlets and Fruit Eating Bats. They are not harmful but you have to follow the instructions given by the guide accompanying you as he is the best person to keep you safe, on track and aware.
For those into a very different kind of experience can surely visit this attraction. Proper guidelines are still not in place for this attraction. Will recommend you to reach us in case you wish to visit Alfred caves. For a visit to Alfred caves an entire day is required.
