Amidst the semi-evergreen forests of Shyamnagar, located near Hathi Level at a distance of about 20 Kilometers from the main town of Diglipur you can witness a chain of mud volcanoes of Shyamnagar. You will have to trek for about 15 minutes to catch sight of the Volcanoes. At the starting stage, you can see the bigger and slumbering volcanoes. Whereas, on proceeding ahead for few more minutes, you can see smaller and newly emerging volcanoes in the landscape.
There are information and notice boards erected to keep the visitors aware of the place. Eco-friendly bamboo-made seating facilities and seats made of fallen tree logs are setup for visitors to sit and relax before they head back.
The mud volcano at Diglipur is a little larger scale than the Mud Volcano at Baratang Island. If you have more days to visit the islands then you can plan a visit here. Considering the short time of travel for most of the travelers to the islands, the volcano at Diglipur is not much visited.
