A trip to the place that you often see at the back of a 20 Rupees note, the North Bay Island. The lighthouse seen at the back of 20 Rupee Indian note is from North Bay Island, Port Blair. The new 20 Rupee note which started printing from 2019 doesn't have the north bay island printed in it.
In this trip, you will be taken to North Bay Island to enjoy the water sport activities and then to Ross Island to explore the ruins of this place that was once the administrative capital of the British.
Both these destinations are a must-visit destination that one should not miss while in Andamans.
Ross Island is a few miles away from Port Blair, once the administrative headquarter for the Britishers. The British then left the island and took settlement at Port Blair due to an earthquake that rocked the Island in 1941. Since then the Island could never recover from the decay and neglect which had set in. Slowly but steadily nature took its toll, as the banyan trees engulfed the buildings thus replacing the structures created by man. This island makes you feel nostalgic and takes you back in time when this was an administrative settlement for the Britishers. The Indian Navy has rebuilt some of the old buildings like the bakery and the local stores, from where you can purchase souvenirs.
North Bay Island also known as Coral Island is a popular destination in Port Blair. The beach and the water activities in its fringing coral reefs are the closest ones you will find at Port Blair. A ferry will take you across Aberdeen Jetty and bring you back after 3 hours. The corals at North Bay are spread over a large area. You're very likely to spot many fish, lobsters, or even clams on the coral reef. When at North Bay, it is time to relax and enjoy. Activities such as Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Speed Boat Rides and Sea Walk are available here.
Trip includes all transfers, boat tickets, pick up and drop and drop to the hotel. A personal AC Vehicle will be provided for the trip. A maintenance fee of 30 Rupees at Ross Island and 10 Rupees and North Bay Island has to be given by the customers after reaching these islands. These amounts cannot be paid in advance.
This trip is closed on Wednesday. Hotel Pickup is considered within City Limits. If your hotel is far from the main city then pickup and drop cab charges will be extra.
Guests will be picked-up from their Hotel/Resort by 8:30 AM (Depends upon how far you are staying). Following the journey, guests will be dropped back at their hotel.
The trip begins from the Andaman water sports complex from where you will board a boat to North Bay Island.
The boat takes about 30 minutes to reach North Bay Island. Relax and spend your time enjoying the beach at North Bay Island.
Northbay Island is very famous for a different kind of water activities. Activities such as Jetski ride, Scuba diving, Coral Safari Semi Submarine, Sea Walking, Andaman Dolphin, Parasailing can be done at North Bay Island at an additional cost.
Post completion of this trip at North Bay you take the same boat to Ross Island. The boat takes approximately 30 minutes to reach Ross Island from North Bay Island. Based upon the load on a given day you may first visit Ross Island and then North Bay Island.
Upon reaching the island you can find ruins of a giant water distillation plant, a swimming pool, Japanese bunkers, a church, Bakery etc. The entire settlement of how the Britishers used to live at Ross Island can be seen here. A museum is also present at Ross Island where you can come to know about the rich history of Ross Island.
